Why Adults Start
Adults come to the Qaida for different reasons, and each one shapes where the teacher begins and which surahs are practised first.
No Quran teacher was nearby as a child, or life simply got in the way before the letters were learned.
Reading was rushed at a young age, and old mistakes in vowels and letters never got corrected.
You want to read the surahs you pray with from the page, not only from memory heard over the years.
Your children have started the Qaida and you want to check their homework with real confidence.

How Adults Are Taught
Adults get the rule first and the drill second. Your teacher explains why a letter with a sukoon stops, then you practise it, rather than learning only by repetition as children do.
Lessons often cover more lines per class, and letters can be grouped by sound, so the heavy letters saad, daad, taa and dhaa are practised side by side.
Because the class is private, you can ask the same question twice and read slowly without feeling watched. That alone keeps many adults going through the harder middle lessons on sukoon and shaddah.
Comparison
A placement check is a short reading test in your first class that shows which Qaida lesson matches what you already know.
| Question | Start From Lesson 1 | Placement Check |
|---|---|---|
| Suits | Complete beginners and reverts | Adults who read a little as children |
| First class | Single letters and their sounds | Reading sample lines aloud |
| Time to the Mushaf | The full Qaida route | Shorter, often skipping early lessons |
| Main risk | Slower at first for those who know some letters | Missed gaps if the check is rushed |
| Gaps found later | Rare | Fixed by going back to that lesson |
Every adult gets a placement check in the free week. Your teacher then suggests the starting lesson and you agree on it together.
Practice
Short, daily practice matters more than long sessions. Ten minutes after Fajr or before bed, reading the homework page aloud, keeps new letters fresh for the next class.
Reading aloud is the key. Silent reading lets mistakes hide, so say every letter out loud even when practising alone, and record yourself once a week to hear your progress.
Students of Noorani Qaida for adults on the weekend plan need this daily habit most, because a full week passes between their lessons.

Outcome
By the end of the Noorani Qaida course for adults, you can read any voweled Arabic word without spelling it out, hold sukoon and shaddah correctly and pause at waqf signs.
From there you move into the Mushaf in our Quran reading course, and later into full Tajweed if you want to polish your recitation.

Not in a private class. The Qaida is a reading primer for every age, used by adults and reverts all over the world. Your teacher treats you as an adult learner, not a child.
Often, yes. Focused adults who attend regularly and practise daily sometimes finish in under three months, by the estimate many academies give. Irregular classes slow anyone down, at any age.
Begin with the first Qaida lesson, alongside Surah Al-Fatiha for your Salah. Our classes for new Muslims combine both with the basics of belief, at a gentle pace.
No. You can learn with the Arabic names, fatha, kasra and damma, explained in English. The Noorani Qaida in English page shows how both sets of names match up.
Yes. Many parents book a late-evening slot when the house is quiet. Tell us the latest time that works for you, and we match you with a teacher available then.
Yes. Women can ask for a female teacher when booking, which many sisters find more comfortable for reading aloud, making mistakes and asking questions openly.
