Why Australian Families Learn Online

Why Do Australian Families Learn the Quran Online?

The 2021 Census counted 813,392 Muslims in Australia, 3.2% of the population, spread across a very large country. Outside the main suburbs, a qualified teacher can be a long drive away, if one is available at all.

Distance

Families in regional towns get the same teacher quality as those in Lakemba or Broadmeadows.

Busy Afternoons

Lessons fit around school, sport and homework instead of a fixed mosque timetable.

Female Teachers

Girls and mothers can ask for a female teacher for any course they choose.

Same Teacher After a Move

If your family moves from Brisbane to Melbourne, your child keeps the same teacher and plan.

Time Zones

Which Class Times Work in Each Australian State?

Australia has three main time zones, and only some states use daylight saving. We book every class in your local time.

Time ZoneStates and TerritoriesDaylight Saving
Eastern (AEST)New South Wales, Victoria, ACT, Tasmania, QueenslandYes, except Queensland
Central (ACST)South Australia, Northern TerritorySouth Australia only
Western (AWST)Western AustraliaNo

Australian afternoons fall during Pakistan’s daytime, so after-school slots from about 4 to 7 PM are a natural fit for our teachers.

When clocks change in October and April, we confirm any shift in your class time. Brisbane, Darwin and Perth keep the same local time all year round.

School Year

How Do Classes Fit the Australian School Year?

Australian schools run four terms, with the long summer holidays in December and January. Many families add classes over summer to push reading or Hifz ahead before Term 1 begins.

During the shorter breaks between terms, classes continue as normal unless you want them moved. Just message our team with your dates.

Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit NAPLAN tests in March, and a lighter Quran week around them keeps both on track.

Teachers and Ramadan

Who Teaches Australian Students, and What Changes in Ramadan?

Our teachers are Ijazah-qualified, teach from Pakistan and explain every lesson in English.

Families from South Asian backgrounds will recognise the Noorani Qaida and Indo-Pak Mushaf, while others can tell us which Mushaf they read at home.

In the next few years Ramadan falls during the Australian summer, when days are long and Maghrib comes late. Many families move lessons earlier in the afternoon during the month, so children are not tired at iftar.

Questions

What Else Do Australian Families Ask?

Still have a question? Our team answers on WhatsApp and will help you pick the right course and time.

Do you have an Australian phone number?

Not yet. The easiest way to reach us from Australia is our WhatsApp number, +44 20 3290 9290, which costs nothing extra over Wi-Fi. You can also email ali@learningquranonline.com.

Are weekend morning classes possible in Perth?

Yes. Families in Western Australia often choose Saturday and Sunday mornings, or weekday afternoons after school. Tell us the hours you prefer and we arrange a teacher for them.

Can my child keep Saturday school at the mosque and learn online too?

Yes. Many children keep weekend Islamic school for friends and community, and add two or three online lessons a week for reading with a teacher who hears every word.

Do classes run during the Christmas and New Year holidays?

Yes, unless you ask us to pause. Many families use the summer break for extra lessons, then return to a lighter plan when school starts again.

Can adults in Australia take early-morning classes?

Yes. Adults often book slots before work or late in the evening. Our adults page explains how others fit private lessons into a busy week.

How do I choose a good online Quran class from Australia?

Choose one-to-one lessons with a teacher who holds an Ijazah and explains clearly in English, at times that fit your state. Then compare the monthly fee and take a free trial.
